Early Stage Winners at the Bend Venture Conference!

The BladeRunner Team is pleased to share that we took home the Early Stage prize at the Bend Venture Conference! Our brilliant CTO, Moriel Arango, gave an inspiring pitch to over 400 hundreds investors and technology enthusiasts who were convinced of our technology and mission to spread affordable clean energy. Check it out the pitch here!

We will be using the funds from the award to build out our presence in Bend, Oregon including multiple pilots in local irrigation channels.

Open Water Testing

The PAX Scientific and BladeRunner Teams completed the first of many open water tests in September 2017. The main goal was to characterize the performance of the flexible tether and compare it to flume results. The team will continue to collect more data over the coming months to influence future designs.

BladeRunner Awarded Phase II Grant

The National Science Foundation has again chosen to support the BladeRunner technology. The PAX Scientific and BladeRunner teams have been awarded a Phase II grant through the NSF’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.

The project will build on the results achieved during Phase I by continuing to improve the rotor design through CFD and small scale testing. The project will then transition to full-scale prototyping, system integration and multiple full-scale tests in real environmental conditions. Read the full R&D abstract here!

The team appreciates the great support from the NSF and the various partners helping us realize another successful project. Please contact us if you’d like to know more about our project and the BladeRunner technology.

BladeRunner Visits the Chico State Flume

In preparation for prototype testing at California State University, Chico, the BladeRunner team visited the Mechanical Engineering Department’s controllable flume. This was a fun, productive day that helped define critical mounting decisions for a successful test in May. Big thanks to the Chico State professors for spending the afternoon with us!

The National Science Foundation Awards BladeRunner!

nsf1Partners PAX Scientific and Real NewEnergy have received funding from the National Science Foundation to continue their work on BladeRunner. The grant has been awarded through NSF’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program and will focus on validating the rotor CFD model through design iterations, prototyping and testing in a controllable flume. Read our R&D abstract here!

The team will conclude Phase I in Summer 2016 and will begin preparations for the next phase of the NSF SBIR Program.

BladeRunner is Official!

With an encouraging proof of concept test and initial market validation, The BladeRunner Energy Company has been officially formed. The team is energized and excited for the challenges and opportunities that we will encounter on this journey to bring affordable clean energy generation to millions of people. Please check back for regular updates on our progress.

We invite you to watch our story below and meet our team of energy pioneers who will be bringing BladeRunner to market.
